Rotary has undertaken to construct permanent, safe-water management systems for as many orphanages needing them as we can fund in Myanmar. At July 1, 2009, 15 such systems are up and running. All are performing at or above expectations for their respective orphanages.

Founder's Story

The Founder and Director of the Rotary Myanmar Project is J.T. Warring of Orange County, California. He is a 36-year Rotarian and currently a member of the Newport-Irvine Rotary Club. He recently received Rotary’s highest “Service Above Self” award from the RI Trustees for his creation and management of the Myanmar Project, and is also Assistant to the Governor for International Youth Projects of his District 5320. J.T. is a Major Donor to The Rotary Foundation and a 4-Diamond member of its Bequest Society.

He initiated the project on Rotary’s behalf in 2005. To date, 15 complete, functioning water management systems have been completed for as many orphanages, and many more remain to be built. Before retiring several years ago from his business career, J.T. was an original equity partner of Korn/Ferry International, subsequently headed two smaller consultancies of his own, Warring & Associates for domestic-client service, and Warring International Advisory Services, Ltd. for international research, principally in East Asia.

A father and grandfather, J.T. is an active member of the Crystal Cathedral congregation and the Founder/President of Sonshine Youth Services in Bell Gardens, California.
