One of the largest orphanages Rotary has served, Immanuel Shelter is in Shwepithar Township, about 60 kilometers northeast of Yangon. Moved three years ago to a larger plot when it outgrew a much smaller former site, Immanuel recently had to add another building to house all the children coming to it.
Immanuel faced a particularly poignant problem, as finding treatable water required them to drill four sequential tube wells on their property to get the one which is viable and atop which we placed a Rotary water system.
"The children now have better health and can spend more time with their lessons. There will be no more worry about having water in the summer."
While its agricultural operation is yet small, they have the land to expand it, and urgently need to do so.
