To date, this orphanage is the most distant from Yangon where Rotary has built a water management system, some 135 kilometers west/southwest of the capital. This unique orphanage sits just outside the attractive small city of Maubin, above, but fairly close to the Myanmar Delta where cyclone Nargis struck two years ago. It occupies one of the larger tracts among our served orphanages, but has needed more water to enlarge its ample growing area.
"Thank you for building a water system for Myitta Yeik Myone children. The system helps us to have more water for farming, washing and especially, for the children to drink. Their health is much improved."
But most uniquely, this orphanage last year became home to 14 “new” kids, who lost their entire families, and homes, to the Nargis cyclone.
